Anybody done one recently and have some extras? Any interest in a new buy? I need to buy some tuners for my Nicaraguan guitars and am getting tired of paying retail.

If anybody has been involved in Grover (or other) group buys before, please shoot me a PM. I have a couple questions to clear up.

Thanks,
Andrew

I'd entertain getting some vintage Grover open backs.

I'd be interested in a Waverly or Gotoh 510 group buy, I've had too much trouble with the Grover vintage open backs.

I'd be interested depending on the price we could get.

Andrew, I might be interested as well. Depends on what type of tuner and how many would be required to make the deal.

For the record, I think the vintage Shaller open back are nice than the Grover open back.

I am curious about the Gotoh open backs though...

We had a thread some months back that compared the Shaller to the Grover, I am a Grover man from way back and have never deviated at all, but some of the comments were as I recall the finish was better on the Grovers. Likewise, a thread about the problem with Grover open backs was discussd and from what I could surmise it was a cross assembling problem where parts from one for what ever reason were used on the open backs causing some problems, something like that. At any rate, I have never had any problems with the Grover tuners at all and whatever problems they had a while back, which I did not experience must have been corrected.

Whatever the case, if we hope to get some type of "buy deal" we all will certainly need to agree upon one. In order to hope to generate enough volume to negotiate anything with the supplier. I am open to considering whatever the group decides in type, style, maker and ultimate price.

My arm is so easily twisted.
So what's the verdict?

I was not around during the Waverly group buy, did it make a pretty good difference? I can easily be swayed off my fetish with Grover for Waverley's, however, Andrew in the original post is needing tuners for what appears to be a number of guitars he just got in. The Wav's might be a little rich even with a discount for what he is needing, maybe he will chime in again.

Again, I am open to go in whatever direction the group is interested.

I would like in if we can order some of the 510's.

Waverly's rule.

My guitars are selling for $600-800, so I can't spring for top dollar tuners. I recognize that there are better options than Grover, but there aren't a lot of other good options in the $20 range.

If the interest here is mainly for higher end tuners, by all means put together a group buy, I'll just work something out on my own.

In addition to the Waverly's, I'm also interested in a Grover vintage open back tuner buy. No reason we can't have multiple group buys if the numbers justify such each deal.

I'm in for two sets Andrew. Also, have you seen the 18:1 ratio ones? Let me know! Clinton

I like the 18:1 Grovers and would be interested in a group by on Waverly's as well.

How about Gotoh open back tuners. They are better than the schallers in my mind.
